Description
Test Kit for HI3822 Sulfite
The HI3822 is a chemical test kit that uses a titrimetric method to measure sulfite as sodium sulfite (Na2SO3). The HI3822 is supplied complete with all the reagents and equipment needed to perform approximately 110 tests.
Prefabricated reagents for ease of use.
All reagents marked with expiration date and lot number for traceability.
Manual titration performed with starch indicator.
The HI3822 is a chemical test kit that determines sulfite concentration in two ranges: 0 to 20 mg/L and 0 to 200 mg/L Na2SO3. The HI3822 is supplied with all the reagents and equipment needed to perform the analysis. The test kit contains enough reagents to perform approximately 110 tests.
All necessary materials are included with the test kit, such as sample cups, indicator and reagent bottles, and calibrated syringe.
High resolution
Readings from 0 to 20 mg/L are determined with a resolution of 0.2 mg/L.
Readings from 0 to 200 mg/L are determined with a resolution of 2 mg/L.
Importance of use
There are many reasons to control the concentration of sulfite in water. In feed water and boiler effluents, a sulfite concentration of approximately 20 mg/L should be maintained to prevent pitting and oxidation of metal components.
A high level of sulfite results in a reduced pH, which promotes corrosion. Monitoring of sulfite is also important in environmental control.
Sulfite ions are toxic to aquatic life forms; The chemical demand that sulfur places on the oxygen in the water can destroy the delicate ecological balance of lakes, rivers, and ponds.
