Description
The Foodcare HI981034 Milk pH Meter has been designed with many advanced features, including a tapered tip pH electrode made of low-temperature glass.
The pH electrode also features an open junction designed to be resistant to clogging from solids and semi-solids. Blockages at the junction of pH electrodes are a serious problem that can occur when pH measurements are taken in milk. Each pH electrode has a reference cell as part of the measurement circuit. The reference cell has a junction, also known as a salt bridge, that isolates the inner portion of the electrode from the sample being measured. This junction must allow free flow in order to provide continuity to the sample. When the junction is clogged with solids, the circuit is interrupted and readings become erratic and slow. The HI981034 uses an open-junction design where no ceramic material is used, typically used in pH electrodes. The open-junction design is resistant to clogging of solids found in milk, leading to a long shelf life.
FEATURES & BENEFITS (ELECTRODE)
- Open-junction pH electrode – The pH electrode on this meter uses an open-junction design. The open junction is more resistant to clogging when the probe is inserted into solids or semi-solids than pH electrodes that use ceramic or porous materials.
- Low Temperature (LT) Glass – The glass tip of the pH electrode uses a low temperature glass formulation with a low resistance of approximately 50 Megaohms compared to general purpose (GP) glass with a resistance of approximately 100 Megaohms. This is beneficial when measuring food products at low temperatures in order to have the ideal resistance in the measuring circuits.
- Tapered tip – Allows for a wide contact surface and easy penetration into semi-solids, making it ideal for milk and dairy products such as yogurt.
- Glass Body – A non-porous glass body, easy to clean and disinfect.
The Foodcare Milk pH Meter offers other features including automatic calibration at one or two points, automatic buffer recognition, calibrated buffer labels, stability indicator, low battery indicator and adjustable automatic shut-off.
FEATURES & BENEFITS (METER)
- LCD Display – The enhanced LCD display displays readings, stability indicator, low battery, and calibration labels.
- Automatic Calibration – The Foodcare pH Meter for Milk is automatically calibrated with one or two points. The calibration buffers are automatically recognized and the values of the buffers are displayed after calibration.
- Stability Indicator – An hourglass-shaped indicator is displayed on the LCD screen until a stable reading is obtained. Once the reading stabilizes, the indicator disappears and the reading can be taken.
- Auto Shut-Off – The meter can be set to automatically shut off after 8 or 60 minutes to save battery life if the meter is left on. This option can be disabled.
- Probe Diagnostics – During meter calibration, an error message (Err) will be displayed as an indicator that the probe needs to be cleaned.
- Long battery life – The Foodcare Milk pH Meter has an exceptional battery life, reaching approximately 1000 hours. When the battery is running low, the low battery indicator will be displayed on the screen.
- Plastic Transport Box – The pH meter for HI981034 milk is delivered with the meter, probe, calibration solutions, and cleaning solutions. All packaged in a sturdy plastic box.
- Economical – The HI981034 Milk pH Meter is a full-featured meter at an affordable price, for both an amateur and a professional.
