The reaction between the phosphate and the reactants causes a blue color in the sample. When the reagents are added to the sample, a reaction will occur and a compatible benchtop or portable meter can be used to determine the concentration of the color being produced. These reagents do not measure acidic hydrolyzable phosphorus or total phosphorus. Reagents should be ordered separately to measure these forms of phosphorus with the appropriate meter. The HI93706-0 reagents measure orthophosphate and report only this fraction.
