Measure electrostatic fields accurately:
The PFM-711B field meter is an accurate electrostatic field measurement device. The PFM-711B’s circuitry is a digital electronic chopper design, which allows the instrument to perform electrostatic field measurements in areas where ionized air is present. For accurate and repeatable performance, the PFM-711B must be grounded during normal operations. Used on its own, the PFM-711B will measure electrostatic fields emanating from virtually any surface or flat object.
Measure in 1 Volt and 10 Volt Increments:
In the kV/inch range, the PFM-711B will indicate an electrostatic field voltage of 0 to ± 20,000 volts in 10 volt increments at a distance of 1 “(25 mm) from the charged surface. In the V/inch range, the field meter measures the density field from 0 to ± 1,999 volts in 1-volt increments at a distance of 1” (25 mm) from the charged surface. The instrument is easy to use, and its controls are designed for one-handed operation.
Provides a ground reference:
The PFM-711B field meter housing is conductive. Provides the ground reference for your measurement circuit. To obtain accurate measurements, it is necessary that the person holding the meter has a proper ground connection or that the meter has a ground connection on the metal clasp of the box. Ground the box using a functional wristband that is properly grounded. Turn on the meter and select the desired range. Make sure HOLD is not enabled. Set the display to zero (0) volts by pressing the ZERO control.
Bulls Eye for Accurate Measurements:
Range lights help position the instrument for accurate measurements. Align the PFM-711B field meter’s front sensor approximately one inch (25 mm) from the surface or object being measured. Move the instrument toward or away from the surface until the RED bull’s eye is focused on the test surface. Once the instrument is correctly positioned, the PFM-711B will indicate the measured electrostatic field on its display. If desired, press the HOLD button once to lock the indication on the display. The LED of the selected range will flash.
Use with a recording device:
The PFM-711B is the most flexible field meter on the ESD control market. Combined with a variety of accessories, you can perform many different measurements to analyze the process or static-sensitive environment. The analog output allows documentation of measurements when used in conjunction with an X-Y tracer, analog data logging device, or the Prostat self-analysis system. (Recording device and cable not included).
