Description
The HI97713 is an advanced portable photometer for the measurement of low-range phosphate (as orthophosphate) in water. This meter has a superior optical system that uses a reference detector and narrowband interference filters for extremely fast and repeatable measurements.
Phosphate is a common water additive for its ability to protect iron pipes from corrosion. It can be found in both drinking water and boilers/cooling towers. HI97713 uses an ascorbic acid method in which orthophosphate reacts with molybdate in an acidic solution to form a yellow phosphomolybdate complex. The phosphomolybdate complex is then reduced with ascorbic acid, and as a result, a blue color is produced that is proportional to the phosphate concentration in the sample. The ascorbic acid method is ideal for measuring samples with low phosphate concentration. The phosphate photometer can HI97713 measure phosphate in water from 0.00 to 2.50 mg/L (ppm).
The HI97713 has an innovative optical system that offers superior performance in accuracy, repeatability, and the short time it takes to make a measurement. This compact, waterproof meter is extremely easy to use with a tutorial mode that graphically guides the user step-by-step through performing a measurement. The use of a backlit dot matrix LED allows the use of virtual keys that make the operation of the meter very intuitive, including the selection of different units of measurement, the review of GLP data, the retrieval of the last 50 measurements and the customization of the meter according to the user’s preferences.
The HI97713 is completely waterproof, including the bucket holder that is designed with ridges to protect the optical path from bucket scratches and a gasketed battery compartment that holds three common AA batteries. The compact design fits comfortably in the hand for use in the field or on a bench for use in a laboratory. The LCD screen measures 71 mm (2.75 “) by 37 mm (1.6”) and is backlit for easy viewing in all conditions.
